OK....I have a question. I've already ordered the braiding from Katarra8 and it should be arriving any day now. Would there be anyway that I could pay you to make a Kirk and Spock shirt? How much would you charge for something like that? Or could you give me the sources for your fabric? We've spent $50.00 alone on the braiding and that's put us a fairly close to reaching our budget.

    Thanks.

We got our braiding and badges from Katarra8 as well. Great stuff. I'm sorry, Vickie has no intention of doing any sewing for hire. She says that it takes all the fun out of the hobby and adds pressures she'd rather avoid. I understand that.
The fabric sources are tricky. We did it all on foot without any internet places and struck out at most commercial fabric places. The only fabric we would find at a Joanne's was the occasional red ponte knit for the red shirts. Like I said, we found what little blue they had at that silk small shop in Anaheim. I'm not even sure what the name of the place was but have a rough idea which place it was in little strip mall. The Kirk material was picked up at a wholesale place in the Los Angeles fabric district. The guy barely spoke English . I know it seems kind of hap hazard but we went and explored so many places...sheesh. If we ever plan on making more tunics for ourselves in the future we may just bite the bullet and buy some of that stuff Katarra8 was selling if she still had any left.
All I can say is good luck and that making any costume is never cheap even if you do it yourself.

Hi. I'm wondering what kind of fabric you made your TOS costumes out of.

    Thanks.

It varied on what we could find.
Vickie's dress was a really nice double knit polyester while the other red shirts were just a simpler ponte knit. The blue was a similar knit that we managed to find in a small silk shop in Little Saigon in the Anaheim area. The captain's tunic was actually a polyester weave but had some stretchiness on the bias to compensate for lack of being a knit. We had no desire to go with or search for a velour (but hey, that's just me.) ;)
